Hardie® VL Plank weatherboard: Kent Cottage combines traditional modern facade

This private cottage in Kent is the second property in the UK to be fitted with Hardie® VL Plank weatherboard - the new V-groove interlocking profile by James Hardie.

Whilst the homeowners were drawn to the natural look of wood, they wanted a long-lasting, low maintenance solution and turned to Weald Building Services for support. The original cladding was made of timber that was over 10 years old and required heavy maintenance. Despite their best efforts to prevent the "aged" appearance, the original cladding had started to peel. 

Having heard about the Hardie® VL Plank weatherboard, Weald Building Services was confident that the new tongue and groove fibre cement board had everything the homeowners were looking for. Unlike wood, Hardie® VL Plank fibre cement is specifically formulated to better resist the damaging effects of sun, moisture, pests and fire.

Completed in less than a week, the project has taken the once dated building and turned it into a fresh, bright modern home for the family to be proud of.
